1-Frame: Lightweight, road-smoothing hydroformed aluminum frame. The S40's wheelbase, trail, and head-tube angle deliver smooth handling, natural cornering and a responsive ride whether you are descending at top speed or navigating twisting backroads.

2-Front Triangle: The Cruzbike S40 leverages the same famously-stiff, patented drive triangle that powers the V20 to records and wins. We call this system Dynamic Boom Front Wheel Drive and it's what sets us apart from other recumbents and what makes us similar to performance road bikes. Our drive system links the upper and lower body across the drivetrain as it rotates around the axis of the head tube. This linkage allows you to increase power when climbing or sprinting. You will engage your upper body in much the same way professional cyclists do when they climb or sprint on traditional road bikes.

3-Seat-to-Frame-to-Drive Connection: The S40's carbon fiber seat fits the curve of the frame so that no watt is wasted. As you press your back into the frame, you engage your whole body through the handlebar and cranks. Energy surges through the drive system and powers the bike forward, leaping up hills or accelerating into a sprint.

4-Fork: The 2019 fork is designed to accommodate a Roubaix-style set-up with up to 38 mm tires on 700 c wheels and wider if you choose to equip your frameset with a 26-inch wheels. The product team chose the tough, versatile Kenda Kriterium Endurance 700x30c tire for the S40 Complete 2019 so you can ride whatever road is calling your name, day after day.

5-Racks and Bosses: The S40 is the machine for fast commuting, multi-day rides, brevets and tours. Possibilities abound when your bike is fast, light, comfortable and ready to be outfitted for the demands of your cycling ambitions. The frame boasts threaded mount points for racks, panniers, lights, fenders and hydration.

6-Weight: S40 Complete 2019 as outfitted by the product team weighs in at just 27 lbs (12,250 kg). Final weight of a custom-built frameset will vary depending upon your component choice.

S40 Complete 2019 | $4100 (~3500€)
The new 2019 S40 Complete is outfitted with a SRAM Apex 1x11 system we chose for performance. It hits the sweet spot for power on the flats and gearing for the climbs. Plus you get all the benefits of a 1 x system: plenty of gearing with lower maintenance and less to go wrong. The S40 complete ships by FedEx with components pre-installed. Plan for 2-3 hours for assembly if you are a novice. Experienced mechanics will be able to complete the assembly in about 30 minutes.
